The waiting game

Our little man is so complex. I would've updated sooner, but the team just can't seem to make up their minds. Kaden's lungs are doing fine, but his belly isn't emptying. It's all very medical, but the best I can explain it is that he has gastroparesis, which means that he is not digesting food. He still has the obstruction, but they are more concerned that his belly isn't emptying into his colon. So, what we think happened is that food sat in his stomach for 4 days and never emptied until it got so full that it compressed both lungs and caused severe distention. He also has what's called an ileus. Part of his bowel is just not working. The worst part of all of this is that they think it's autonomic, which really can't be fixed. We are initiating a bowel program and starting pedialyte via g-tube at a very slow rate to see if he can tolerate anything. If not, then we decide what to do then. Thank you for prayers. As a side note but very important, my dear friend Camil is here on the same floor with her 9 year old son. He is very very ill and going in for surgery in about an hour. Please pray for little Logan.
